Frequently Asked Questions

How long does an evaluation take?

The length of an evaluation depends on the referral question and the individual’s age and needs. Most comprehensive evaluations involve multiple components, including a clinical interview, standardized testing, behavioral observation, scoring, interpretation, and a detailed written report.

In general, testing appointments range from 1 to 4 hours per session, with some evaluations requiring more than one visit. A feedback session is scheduled once the report is completed to review results and recommendations in detail.

What is the cost of treatment?

The cost of therapy services varies depending on the type and length of the appointment (e.g., 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute sessions). Fees may differ for specialized services such as sleep consultation or parent coaching.

If you plan to use insurance, we will verify your benefits prior to beginning services so you understand your expected copay, deductible, or coinsurance responsibilities. Self-pay rates are also available upon request.

What is the cost of an assessment?

The cost of an assessment depends on the type and scope of the evaluation. Comprehensive autism or neurodevelopmental evaluations differ in complexity from focused academic or ADHD assessments, and fees reflect the time required for testing, scoring, interpretation, report writing, and feedback.

If using insurance, we will request prior authorization (when required) and provide an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs based on your specific plan. Self-pay options are available and are listed below.

Self-Pay (not through insurance)
Testing Appointments:
-$1,500 for autism and educational evaluations for children and adolescents
-$2,000 for comprehensive evaluations for adults

What is the current waitlist?

Wait times vary depending on the type of evaluation requested and time of year. Please contact our office for the most up-to-date information regarding availability.

We strive to maintain reasonable scheduling timelines while ensuring each evaluation receives the time and attention it deserves.

How soon can I expect to receive the full report and diagnostic conclusions after completing testing?

Reports are typically completed within 2 to 4 weeks after the final testing session. A feedback appointment is scheduled to review diagnostic conclusions, discuss recommendations, and answer any questions.

If an evaluation is time-sensitive (e.g., school or medical deadlines), please let us know in advance so we can discuss options.

Will my insurance cover the cost of the assessment?

Insurance coverage varies by plan. We will verify your benefits and request authorization if required before testing begins. Coverage may depend on medical necessity criteria, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums.

Our office will provide an estimate of your expected financial responsibility based on your individual insurance plan. Self-pay options are also available.

What should I bring to the assessment?

Please bring:

  • A photo ID (for adults or guardians)

  • Insurance card (if using insurance)

  • Any relevant prior evaluations, IEPs/504 plans, therapy records, or medical documentation

  • Glasses, hearing aids, or other assistive devices if used

For children, a snack and comfort item may also be helpful.

Is the assessment process stressful?

Our goal is to create a calm, supportive environment. Evaluations are designed to be engaging and developmentally appropriate. Many children experience the process as structured activities rather than “tests.”

Breaks are provided as needed, and sessions are paced to ensure comfort and accuracy. For adults, the process is collaborative and respectful, with space for questions throughout.
